Date: April 12, 2003 Time: 10:33PM EDT
Location: I-285 southbound on W side of Atlanta @ I-20
Type: White orb, size of BB at arm's length
Duration: 2-3 seconds
Description:
Proceeding southbound on I-285 west of Atlanta appoaching I-20. Observed a pearl-like
moderately glowing white orb the approximate size of a BB at arm's length. The Orb came into my field of
vision from left to right, so it was traveling approximately East to West at a slight downward angle
(more parallel than downward). Duration 2-3 seconds, BUT conditions were clear and
allowed a GOOD view of this orb. Perfectly round. Did not resemble a meteor in any way
except that it too came down from the sky! No fiery trail, no glowing head. A perfectly
round white glowing orb that was so white, it may have actually looked pale blue if
closer. It covered about 40 degrees of arc before it either
went behind terrain I could not see, or vanished in some way. Lyrids meteor shower was
expected during the next week or so, April 19-23. This thing was similar to an orb I
observed about 2 years ago above Fayetteville. Definitely not a satellite or aircraft.
